IN my long life I have always enjoyed the summers we have had – some better than others, of course.
Today I write this on Tuesday, July 22, after having experienced the most wonderful day of my life, I think, weather-wise.
One or two things have been of particular note, the butterflies especially. My garden flowers required looking after, of course, and when I see them I say I have not wasted my time. Large white, peacock, tortoiseshell, brimstone, meadow brown, etc.
Thank God, I say to myself, when I hear the sad news on my TV. I say, well, at least my life is still just lovely because the weather is unbelievable.
I find a few things unbelievable when I hear the news of late, but one has to live one’s life as one finds it, so I can only thank the Lord for allowing me to now be able to enjoy life so well.
A last question: why have I not seen a wasp this year? Too early maybe?
EWAN HENTALL, Nursling.
