It was about a week ago now that I phoned Southampton City Councils’ Action Line to request the collection of a dead animal about the size of a small dog from the west-bound dual carriageway.

I explained it had been there a week already. It was quite large but upside down so I couldn't identify it or work out how it got there. Was it a dog? I was assured that it would be collected as soon as possible.

A week later after my call and it is still there!

It is now been flattened somewhat and is hardly recognisable now to what it looked like some weeks ago but it is still there. It is located on the Millbrook flyover section of the dual carriageway, adjacent to the Harley Davidson shop just before the roundabout road meets the dual carriageway.

I wonder how many visitors to Southampton have noticed it over the last three weeks? It’s not a very good image for Southampton having dead animals left on the road. Hopefully it will rain soon and nature will disperse it.

Ironically I actually work for the council. I am not at all surprised by the lack of action.
