I AGREE with your correspondent A.Willot (Letters, July 26) – freedom of speech in both TV and the media is so important to all of us in this country.

I would have thought therefore that the residents of the street being filmed for Immigation Street would have welcomed the chance to be able to contribute to a well balanced documentary programme.

This would have enabled them to indicate the progress, improvements, and opportunities they and their families have acquired since coming here to their elected new residence.

I am sure that many of the street’s residents have moved on and become like friends and work colleagues of mine from China, Asia and the Middle East. Hard working, law abiding socially integrated citizens, accepting the customs, principles and culture of their new country.

So why not step up and have your say when the occasion arises?
