SO Eastleigh (Southampton) Airport is to be sold.
I read recently that a group of airport workers got together and had a clean-up of the grounds of the airport. Well done and I’m very sure this looked spotless.
Is it now possible for Eastleigh/Southampton councils to decide who is responsible for the eyesore of a road leading to the airport from Southampton Road to the Spitfire Roundabout?
What visitors must think I can only guess.
Trees and bushes overgrown, grass not cut, paint on bridge absolutely disgusting when it can be seen through weeds etc, litter wherever you look and railings in need of repair.
Oh, and a constantly dirty monument to R.J. Mitchell, “The Replica Spitfire”.
Let’s hope any new owner can push the responsible council to clean it up. I’ve seen better airports in Jamaica. At least they have a bit of pride.
CLIVE F. SIMPSON, Eastleigh.
