PLEASE, through your newspaper, can we send our thoughts and condolences to Ms Kelly Parker (Wednesday, August 6).

Having recently read your story about those poor horses suffering with neglect on Hamble Airfield, I didn’t think human beings could be more cruel than that.

That was until Wednesday, August 6 when I read about the ordeal of poor Kelly and her darling little son Leon’s last resting place.

While reading it I just cried, wondering how that poor, heartbroken mum could take any more. What human being in their right mind would want to do that to a little boy’s grave, knowing that the poor little mite and his mum have suffered enough already?

Whoever did this, children or adult, are the lowest of the low.

There are no words that would come close to describing how evil they are. The frightening thing is, as a society we are breeding a generation of humans who are now desensitised to such a degree.

If the culprits were children, surely their parents would wonder at the “arrival” of new solar lights?

To steal these would be bad enough, but to smash a baby’s teddies – words fail me.

We live near the cemetery where little Leon is resting and we must say we despair at some of the actions and behaviour from children AND adults that we witness sometimes.

But Ms Parker, we want you to know that it is only the minority around here who would think about doing something so horrible. All the rest of us share your heartbreak with you.

MRS. S. JONES, Southampton.
