SURELY workers in slaughterhouses must develop a hard skin towards the creatures that pass through their hands, resulting in possible callousness and illtreatment despite the 2013 EU regulations.
Yet the Government’s DEFRA has rejected calls for mandatory CCTV cameras to be installed in each slaughterhouse.
They would ensure proper measures governing handling, restraint, stunning and slaughter of these poor creatures are followed.
It has been said consumers of red meat would give it up if they saw the slaughter. Should we continue to turn a blind eye?
