HAVING read the article on Monday, September 8 headed, Housing protesters win legal review, I wish the residents of Botley and Boorley Green through BPAG success because they have a genuine case, as we have in Eastleigh over the other crazy proposal to develop Stoneham Park before the infrastructure is in place to cope, all this when there are better alternatives.

The leader Cllr Keith House states “We will be robustly defending our decision”. Of course he will be using taxpayers’ money. This is more about how dare anybody challenge my authority as we have seen before with the Ageas Bowl Hotel, the new civic offices with no council chamber and many other issues.

We have a leader with a 40 to four majority, who has pursued a political agenda to the detriment of the residents they claim to represent.

We are all aware there is a housing crisis, however, what we can’t accept is a biased local plan passed by a council, who are not prepared to listen to the majority of their residents.

I also note the statements made under the Daily Echo comment printed on the same day and say those concerned know houses are required and have to go somewhere. Any delay is acceptable if manipulated public consultations to suit the ruling party’s political agenda end in bad planning that is going to damage the way of life of the residents involved, as these plans will.

KEN WELLSTOOD, Eastleigh.
