SCOTLAND’S referendum over independence will go down in history as a victory for common sense and will surely prove to be a new beginning for the United Kingdom.

‘No’ will surely take its place as one of the greatest words spoken in Scotland’s history, voiced by the majority to ensure the continuation and importance of our place on the world stage.

We are better together said David Cameron, who must now ensure it is out with the old and in with the new. Promises must not be broken.

There are lessons to be learned. Party politics must take a back seat, sharing the profits of capitalism among the people of the United Kingdom by introducing a living wage for all would be a good start.

Introduce a United Counties of Great Britain, ensuring they are responsible for their own health service, etc. A change in direction for ALL the UK is long overdue, Thank you Scotland, for the wake-up call.

A WILLOTT, Southampton.
