IS IT really “bonkers”, as Cllr Jeremy Moulton suggests, to limit car ownership?

Alan Whitehead is at least thinking outside the box on what is often problematic in this city.

Speak to emergency drivers, bin men and even delivery drivers and they all suggest that on-street parking interferes with access.

Speak to any household and you’ll often find they struggle to find a parking space for their average of two cars per home.

Speak to any road user who wishes to turn into a side road and is faced with what is essentially now a single lane due to parked cars right up to the street corners – this makes visibility an issue.

Something has to be done.

And it is not as if cars are getting smaller. There needs to be an incentive to attract people into alternatives such as public transport, walking and cycling.

Even motorcycling!

No. It is “bonkers” and “out of touch with reality” to keep ignoring these issues.
