I REFER to Lib Dem Martin Kyrle’s letter published Monday, September 29 and make the following comments.

I was referring to the biased local plan selection of sites over much of the borough, not just Botley.

Can it be really claimed because the Lib Dems won May’s Botley election they had a majority of the electorate?

They had 752 against a combined opposition of 1,118 on a turnout of 45.42 per cent, out of an electorate of 4,134. In my book that’s 18.2 per cent of the electorate – hardly a majority.

With analysis like this from a prominent ex-Lib Dem politician, is it any surprise that turnout at elections is so dismal and voters have lost faith in politicians?

I stress again objectors are not against housing – it’s how this council selected the sites which is in dispute.
