AFTER reading about pets being microchipped on your pets for rehoming page it reminded me of an incident with my daughter’s cat.

My daughter has recently moved house and purchased a new cat flap that is activated by the cat’s microchip. All went well with the first cat.

The flap registered his microchip, but the second cat was unable to get through so in the end we took him to the vet to be checked. The nurse could not locate his chip anywhere and said it appears to have stopped working so we had him microchipped again and he is able to use the flap.

My advice would be every time your pet has its jabs get the vet to scan for the chip as routine, as we thought my daughter’s cat had been chipped for four years.
