A NUMBER of articles and letters have been printed in the Daily Echo recently concerning the “months of misery” caused by the M27 junction three widening scheme.

Should this scheme prove a success and reduce the bottleneck at this junction and increase the traffic flow on to the southbound M271 I do wonder if the wise heads in the Ministry of Transport have considered what the consequences of these improvements will be at the end of the M271 approaching Redbridge roundabout.

At busy times the traffic queue frequently stretches back from the roundabout to M271 junction one and I would expect this queue to get longer following completion of the M27 works.

Unfortunately this will cause increased inconvenience and extra pollution for Redbridge residents as more drivers leave the M271 at junction one and go via the Test Lane/Gover Road “rat run”ÿ to the roundabout.

With the Adanac Park development and Lidl distribution centre adding to traffic using M271 junction one and increased commercial traffic using Test Lane to access the proposed industrial units planned for the field next to the Echo offices bordered by Gover Road, I fear that the “months of misery” will continue to the detriment of those living in Redbridge.
