THE Athletic Club at the Sports Centre needs new facilities. They and Active Nation are apparently pressing the City Council for the necessary funds.
Selling off some of our city’s precious green open space to developers is not the answer and would create a dangerous precedent.
Each generation has an obligation to the next to hold on to our Public Open Spaces.
Today we enjoy the Sports Centre, The Common, Riverside Park, the Central Parks and many, many more, thanks to previous generations of Southampton citizens.
We must pass that legacy on intact.
ARTHUR JEFFERY, Ashurst.
