MAY I enquire if anyone in the Winchester area can advise me if they know of a Mr John D Mills who was a Captain in an Artillery Regiment based in Kent during the Second World War?

He lived in Post Office Tavern, Parchment Street, Winchester and his mother’s maiden name was Munt.

He was my father’s commanding officer during the war and I have been brought up to hear many stories of him during my upbringing.

My father’s name is James Simpson and he is now 91 year’s old. I have promised him that I shall try to find out what became of his friend and commanding officer.

My father is Scottish by birth and still lives in central Scotland.

WILLIAM SIMPSON, Woking, Surrey.
