IN reply to Linda Burr (Daily Echo, November 19), I could not agree more. Fireworks have got out of hand. They should be taken off sale to the general public and be for displays only.

Some years ago I, along with others, were in constant touch with Southampton MP John Denham regarding fireworks. The best Mr Denham could get from the Government was no fireworks after 11pm – but do they stop at 11pm? No, they do not.

My little dog is frightened out of his skin. But worst of all, he will not go out last thing at night. These are not fireworks, these are bombs, which means I have to get up during the night to let him out.

But on Friday, November 7 at 3am I opened the door to let him out and, yes, you guessed it, bang, bang, bang.

I don’t know who the lowlife was, but that is why they should come off sale to the general public.
