I am feeling frustrated with the subject of the national debt.

I know from recent press releases that we are looking at “generations” to resolve this.

I have quite a different view, and perhaps even a “way forward”! My idea is to “Invest in UK”.

We have a lot of people in the UK who have saved funds. These include the older generation who now have pension pots available as well as all UK businesses.

As a country this is a huge and as yet untapped resource that could be used to reduce or even eradicate the national debt.

All that is required is a suitable tax break from our own government!

The idea is simple: all funds would be paid to HMG and such funds would be repaid via a tax allowance over a suitable term (ie five years). Such a tax break would represent an approximate ten per cent growth.

This is better than can be achieved with any current bank account, and gives the government a huge cash influx to address the national debt, and allows business the same opportunity.

Repayments are “on the bleed” whilst the government is not paying unnecessary interest.

This also has the advantage of giving people more “spendable capital” thus helping to re-invest in our economy.

A side benefit is that this also places economic power in the hands of our government whilst simultaneously limiting the power of our current banking system.
