WITH regard to the protest on the abolishing of the T1 and T2 bus services reported in the Daily Echo (December 2), I’m sure the demonstration would have been bigger had the T1 and T2 been running, thus enabling more people to attend.

The cutting of these services is a hammer blow to the elderly community who have no other form of transport and face a long walk for essential shopping, doctors etc.

Has anyone from the council or Bluestar really thought deeply about the misery they are causing? I do feel that the motto of the council is “Profit before People”.

Can they not exercise a little humanity? The OAPs are trying to hang on to their independence. The T1 and T2 help them to do this and not to be part of the “invisible old”.

Just remember the grey vote at the next elections.

I realise you have your orders from the Eton Boys in London, but please do not sink as low as them. Show some compassion and do not be a modern day Scrooge.

Please do not destroy the only lifeline some people have.

Perhaps the councillors will rally round and pick up the OAPs in their fancy cars.

WENDY TAYLOR, Totton.
