I HAVE read many of the letters about dirty Southampton, which your paper has published.
Being a street cleaner for nearly 30 years now, enough is enough.
I found Mr R W Bates’ remarks (In My View, December 11) very insulting, nasty and a slur on myself and my colleagues. He should get his facts right.
We work seven days a week and in all weathers, but are severely crippled by budget cuts to the workforce.
We are all doing our best to keep the city clean.
I will put it to Mr Bates and co to come out with us on a Monday morning to see how dirty the streets are before it is cleared up.
It’s lazy people who make litter, not us.
Perhaps your paper will one day give us praise instead of having a dig at us all the time.
FED UP STREET CLEANER, Name and address supplied.
