MAY I correct some of the claims made by Mr Kyrle (Letters, January 23) especially the oft proclaimed loss of British jobs?

British jobs are not reliant on the EU.

I believe Mr Kyrle is well aware of the limits to our trade within the confines of the EU and the vast global market that we could be utilizing to the great benefit of all, ie Asia, China, Africa, and the many other Commonwealth countries that we traded with long before the EU proclaimed itself a political union – note I say proclaimed itself !

The Brtish people were never asked. The many small businesses that we once had are falling by the wayside faster than they have ever done. Those that are not sold off to foreign countries are facing a grave battle to stay afloat because of the daily deluge of new directives and inoperable laws forced on them by a political union that cannot keep its own house in order, rather ironic I would say. There is not enough room here to give you a full list of reasons why we must leave the EU for our survival as a free trading nation.
