WE of Southampton Choral Society are greatly saddened by the sudden death of one of our most stalwart supporters, Alban Rees-Jones.
Alban was our main accompanist for many years and never missed a rehearsal.
His musicianship and depth of passion for whatever music we were studying was always obvious and he will be greatly missed.
As well as playing for rehearsals, Alban always performed with the orcherstra when required and often went “solo” accompanying many great works on the organ.
Alban also accompanied other choirs and groups in the area and supported professional soloists at many concerts over the years.
His musicianship was impeccable and he was always very modest in receiving the applause of his audience.
Alban will be sadly missed by the many musicians who had the pleasure of making music with him.
