With regards to Mrs J Weston’s letter (Daily Echo, February 21), I totally agree with the idea of a wheelie bin “sheriff” and fixed penalties for offenders who leave the green eyesores out on the pavements, causing hazards to pedestrians.

It appears the bins aren’t really needed anyway; just take a drive down Thomas Lewis Way in Portswood one day and you will see for yourself the litter outnumbers the trees!

Why use bins when you can chuck your rubbish out the car window?

Why does the council not do something about this growing litter problem? It appears to be spreading throughout our city.

It’s all very well having cleaners, but do we actually have enough to cover the areas needed? Apparently not!
