The ‘dodgy donors’ debate in Parliament has prompted the Green Party to revisit the call for a system of state funding for political parties.
Price Waterhousecooper, being accused of “wholesale tax avoidance selling”, gave close to £390,000 of support to the Labour Party last year alone.
Why should those parties with the largest amount of money from dubious financial sources be allowed to continue to draw from donors that only have their own self-interests at heart?
The political system should reward political parties on their endeavour, not by how much influence they can buy with money obtained from self-interest-type donors.
Joe Cox (prospective Southampton City Council Green Party candidate for Bargate).
