LIBERAL Democrat Richard Grant (Letters, March 9) thinks his party is going to win the two New Forest seats at the General Election.
This fantasy scenario suggests your correspondent is having a laugh.
To put things into perspective YouGov polling shows that about 13 per cent of Britons believe that the Apollo moon landings were faked.
This admittedly tiny minority is still twice as many as those who believe in the Liberal Democrats and intend to vote for them.
On a bad day the Lib Dems are down to five per cent in the polls, overtaken by UKIP and even the Greens. Its activist base of councillors has been shredded nationwide.
It has forfeited its deposit in five of the last six by-elections and extensive polling evidence indicates that its leader is likely to lose his seat in Sheffield.
Finally it is rumoured that the Scottish National Party is considering running candidates in England.
If it runs in the New Forest it will get more votes than the Liberal Democrats.
