As someone who spent my working life with VT at Woolston I find your headlines of “Shipbuilding retuning to city” so misleading for your readers.
Shipbuilding will never return to Southampton thanks to BAE acquiring the VT shipbuilding business and then closing the Portsmouth shipyard. BAE being one of the biggest manufacturing companies in the UK but also the most inefficient company I have ever seen. Portsmouth was doomed from the day they took over.
Small boats or parts of them may be built at the former VT yard but even that is far from certain as the Palmer Johnson episode also proved to be a false dawn but attracted similar headlines.
