The deal that has been negotiated in secret between the EU and the US, TTIP for short, would not bring jobs nor improve our wages.

Based on the experience of similar deals signed in the past, US Trade Union confederation AFL-CIO say they have suffered the loss of jobs and lowering of wages before.

They fear the same would happen this time, there and here.

Royston Smith's argument is based on a single study that has been discredited for making assumptions such as full employment all over Europe, whereas the unemployment rate in most countries is very high. Many studies, far more credible, predict large corporations would gain at the expense of wages going down, jobs being lost and all sort of regulations being relaxed.

The sale of beef full of hormones, for example, would be allowed. Our health and the environment would suffer if this deal goes ahead. Almost two million people from European countries have signed an on-line petition to stop TTIP.

We need to put pressure on our incoming government to look at the real data instead of repeating falsehoods.
