Over the course of the election where the Liberal Party stood four candidates I was shocked at the amount of times the media confused the Liberal Party with The Liberal Democrats.

Apart from the Liberal in the name they couldn’t be more different.

The Liberal Party are Euro-sceptical in that they would like a renegotiation of powers within the EU but feeling that this is a pipe dream and an EU referendum for the British people is their democratic right.

We believe that we could still trade with our European partners but could also tap into more effectively emerging markets around the world if we withdrew from the EU.

The Liberal Party, unlike the Liberal Democrats as part of the coalition, are against the renewal of Trident.

The Liberal Party, unlike the Liberal Democrats, are opposed to HS2.

The Liberal Party, unlike the Liberal Democrats, would not tender NHS contracts to private companies where shareholders are the driving force.

The Liberal Party, unlike the Liberal Democrats, would abolish university and further education fees for British-born students.

The Liberal Party, unlike the Liberal Democrats, support the ‘Living wage.’ We do of course agree on many things with the Liberal Democrats, being anti-war unless we are under attack or it can be proven that we are directly affected by a situation.

We have seen Liberalism at it’s lowest ebb after this last election but with five more years of Tory tyranny ahead of us we need a true Liberal alternative so myself and my fellow members are going to do all we can to turn our little party into a big party capable of having a say.

The first thing we need to do is point out that the Liberal Party are not the Liberal Democrats.
