INSTEAD of selling the Moorgreen hospital site, decision-makers should be considering how to improve the provision of health and social care services in the area.

The idea put forward by CCGs and others, of merging the provision of health and social care taking the patient views into account, is very welcome. The point is to transform those nice words into reality.

You reported recently on the meeting organised by Eastleigh Southern Parishes Older People’s Forum (ESPOPF).

They have put forward a plan that deserves careful consideration now, before Moorgreen hospital is sold.

It involves providing a range of health services alongside social services.

They conducted a survey to find out what services are needed locally.

If the Moorgreen hospital land is sold there will be nowhere else to provide those services locally.
