IN SEVEN Days magazine Fred Dinenage finally showed that he has been swallowed up by his minor fame and ego to criticise Flybe for having to bump him off of a flight due to a computer malfunction. How very dare they!

These modern planes are all computer controlled and, if faulty in the interest of his safety, the plane was withdrawn and a smaller one luckily found.

But with not enough seats for Fred to get on the flight, did they not know who he is? Fred writes that a spare equivalent plane should have been found to replace the one that was faulty.

How much would your ticket be if Flybe had spare multi-million pound planes sat at the airport just in case?

Fred then goes on to say he was refunded and given 250 euros which he felt was not much?

Seems pretty fair to me. He then goes on to list all the issues the flight failing caused for him and his film crew and a man who’s wife has cancer, upset children etc.

It’s never going to be convenient for anyone Fred but it is a plane and like any mechanical or electrical item they can go wrong, so be thankful it went wrong on the ground.

Fred should consider what he would do if he were giving family a lift to Gatwick in his car for it to break down en route meaning the family miss the flight.

Would he have another member of the family following in a spare car just in case?

How much compensation would he pay? Flybe paid out 250 euros to 26 people which is a lot of money and refunded everything.

Sadly Fred has been heading this way for a while and as a man who flies regularly should understand that even BA planes go wrong.

Next time, Fred, use your considerable wealth and charter your own plane if you are convinced they never break down or have issues.
