I HAVE recently seen headlines in a national newspaper concerning the police warning a rider in the naked bike ride about being “over excited”.
The local naked bike ride, due this Friday, is as I understand, endorsed and encouraged by the local council. Could someone from the council please be asked to explain why it is thought that riding a bike naked in public is legally and morally acceptable when walking naked in public is clearly not. I refer of course to the cases of the naked rambler.
I wonder how many of these cyclists would turn up to support the healthier and environmental advantages that cycling provides if they were not riding naked?
I am all for encouraging healthier lifestyles generally but should this really include the encouragement of adult nakedness in public, condoned by the local authority and on the face of it by Hampshire Constabulary ?
