IT WAS good to see that some students from Itchen College decided to litter pick on the Veracity Ground.
What a shame their efforts were wasted. On my way home from work, I pass the veracity ground, and see lots of groups enjoying the facilities, the football court, skate rink and generally lying under trees chatting.
A different view is seen in the morning. There is litter everywhere that you look, especially from the group that lay under the trees. Cans, bottles, chip papers, you name it, it is there in abundance.
I often feel like giving them a roll of bin bags and suggest they use it!
Our family motto, following an event in a public place is “Leave nothing but your footprints and your memories.”
Maybe some of the culprits or their parents may read this letter and take action to prevent further mess Has anyone from the council visited the war memorial in Mayfield Park lately?
I was walking the dog last week and passed the obelisk.
It is in a disgusting state, weeds coming through the surrounding block paving.
It is not a very good example of thanking our soldiers past and present for their sacrifice for us today.
At this time of anniversaries of past battles, maybe the council could arrange some upkeep of this grand memorial, which is sadly neglected.
