RICHARD Grant’s In My View (February 6) made a number of personal attacks on Ukip supporters, including myself.

In hindsight, the Commonwealth peoples who helped save Britain in two major conflicts with its European cousins seem to have died in vain.

Mr Grant and like-minded individuals ought to remember that German would now be the language spoken in the British Isles, if Commonwealth forces hadn’t fought alongside Britain.

Furthermore, Commonwealth citizens helped rebuild this country, post-war. Today, however, my Jamaican relatives who wish to come for a visit must pay an extortionate visa fee.

With regard to me returning to live in the country of my birth, Jamaica; having paid into the welfare state for decades, myself, and many other women born in the 1950s have had their state pension age moved out of reach.

How much are you prepared to give me to start a new life in the Commonwealth, as well as guaranteeing my state pension, instead of the money being given to children living in the former Communist bloc?
