I SUPPOSE I should be used to being contradicted on these pages no matter what you say but I can’t have name and address supplied contradict what I said about feral pigeons.
The photo they have supplied shows a young pigeon that has in all probability fallen or inadvertently left the nest too early. The lack of feathering would make it rather vulnerable, and soft bill would make it very difficult for it to feed itself, no wonder it looked forlorn. It also doesn’t necessarily need to be covered in excrement by sitting on it from birth. He/she admits it’s the first they’ve ever seen and more than likely the last, I wonder also how old this particular photo was.
