THERE seems a total waste of resources in the NHS, both nationally and locally.

Ambulance personnel personal cannot discharge their patients into A&E because of a backlog, so have to remain with their patient, therefore are not available to respond to other emergencies, inhibiting the efficiency of the ambulance service.

A&E cannot discharge patients to wards because there aren’t enough available beds.

Beds are blocked by patients who are not able to leave hospital because they are unable to manage independently in their own homes, maybe because they are elderly, infirm and live alone with no available home care.

It appears to be an absolute mess!

Why on earth is there not more joined-up co-operation between the NHS and Adult Services to alleviate many of these problems.

It is inexcusable.

Surely it is not unachievable to recreate Recovery Homes, like the old Fred Woolley, to help release ward beds for sick patients.

In the long term, this will indeed save millions of pounds and give us all a better, more efficient NHS.
