£44,600 for the former mayor’s local charities!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I’m absolutely thrilled and frankly staggered by how well its gone and how much we raised - I’m told its a record!

Many thanks to everyone who contributed their time, effort and money.

And especially to Sharon and David, my committee, without whom it couldn’t have happened.

The money, in varying amounts, went to Saints Foundation, Rose Road and Southampton Air Cadets.

My aim was to only support local people - many of whom I met in my year as mayor.

As I often said, Southampton is kept afloat by the voluntary sector without whom the city would grind to a halt.

Please keep going, Southampton needs you, we love you, without you things would be very difficult.

I had a fabulous year as the mayor of Southampton.

Along the way I met amazing people, was entertained in so many different venues from museums to pubs, HMS Victory to SS Shieldhall, cathedrals to cemeteries, building sites to restaurants, universities to theatres and by our wonderful HM forces - to name but a few.

There’s been a lot of laughter, plus tears of emotion at events such as the Remembrance Service - who could fail to be moved by our old (and not so old) soldiers, sailors and airmen?

So, thank you Southampton - I had a wonderful time with you, I will never forget my year as your mayor.

Linda Norris, mayor of Southampton (2015-2016).
