ANOTHER bizarre outburst from deep in the New Forest, as Richard Grant asserts his democratic right to claim that, as a majority of the 65 million people in this country did not vote to leave the European Union, he seems to feel cheated.

The poor Sage of Burley is so confused.

Leaving aside the fact that quite a few of the population were too young to vote, the people who chose not to vote indicated that they did not care about the referendum.

Their thoughts (if any) were rendered irrelevant by their own inaction.

Of those who did bother to vote, manifesting their strongly-held views on either side, a clear majority voted Leave.

That is called democracy, Mr Grant, and that is why the PM does have a clear mandate to take us out.
