I DO agree that Richard Grant often bangs an out of tune Lib Dem drum. 

However, the views he expresses are only his own and are not necessarily representative of the party.

The Lib Dems remain a pro-European party and would have much preferred the referendum delivering a different result. 

However, most of us respect the outcome and acknowledge that the government has a mandate to negotiate withdrawal. 

However, the big question now is on what terms. 

For example, if we are no longer to be a part of the single market, can we still have access and how much would we have to pay?

It would be a very great pity if our government, divided on the issue of the EU, negotiated terms that put us in a significantly worse position than had we stayed in the organisation. 

That is why we must get the chance to see what has been negotiated and decide whether we like it or not. 

Having a second referendum isn’t especially welcome but rather better than suffering a generation with negative impacts on our trade, our economy and jobs, as well as a host of other issues.
