WE HAVE again had the rubbish from a remain voter, Mr Grant (Letters, January 27).
Let me correct you on several issues, Mr Grant, in response to the point you make.
1. You say that only a minority of the electorate voted to leave the EU as millions did not. Quite apart from the fact that this is normal in any election (Governments are frequently elected by a minority of the electorate), exactly the same point could be made even if the remain vote had won; this would have also been a minority vote.
Also the assumption that non-voters would have all voted to remain is pure conjecture. If people do not take the trouble to vote they cannot complain about the result.
2. You say that the campaign was total farce as lies were told. In fact both sides were equally guilty, not just the leave campaign.
3. You are scathing about Prime Minster Theresa May, accusing her of hypocrisy. On the contrary, I give her credit for respecting democracy, something it appears that you do not do, and leading this country in very difficult circumstances.
She has put aside her personal views and while it is rare for me to praise politicians, Mrs May is working very hard for our country right now unlike many of the remainers who are very negative.
Before casting my vote I studied very carefully more than 20 substantive issues on debate through books, newspapers and the internet, studiously ignoring the propaganda from the two opposing campaigns, and I am proud to have taken so much time in coming to the conclusion.
