SHOCKING that in 2017 there are English adults homeless and starving, sitting on cold concrete in freezing weather.

Austerity cuts were imposed on the disabled, the vulnerable, the police and social care to name but a few.

Yet no cuts have been imposed on self-serving, overpaid career politicians.

I recently informed the local MP about this emergency homeless problem as a matter of urgency.

I even suggested the MP sit outside with light clothing and an empty belly to be blessed with some empathy for these people.

I offered to meet the MP and asked for one question to be asked to the prime minister in her question time.

To my dismay the reply letter from the MP consisted of rhetoric of £500m given to the homeless and refusal to meet me and refused to ask my question. Yet, lo and behold, this same MP had enough time to appear on a TV show that evening, doing what politicians do best – avoiding answering all questions! This is the same MP who could not tell me the price of a small loaf of bread; a staple of the people here – so much for being in touch with the people!

I ask you, if MPs have a total disregard for the needs of their constituents why are they still in post? Surely it would be more productive to use their huge salaries for the homeless and social care.

Finally, I ask, where are the ‘special hand-shaking’ fraternity in Fareham why are they not offering their nearby Masonic hall as a temporary emergency solution to the homeless in Fareham. I would volunteer to help.

When you are in the warm with a full belly remember the homeless.
