I MUST say I agree with the recent increased penalty for driving whilst using mobile phones.

However, I was surprised to see the day it was introduced a police car obviously responding to an emergency call blue lights siren speeding along Queensway. I noticed the officer with one hand on the wheel he was bent over to his left side with his other hand on his radio which was clipped to his tunic.

Surely with modern technology it is possible to fit hands-free communication especially whilst driving at high speed in a built-up area.

Either with pedestrians or other vehicles, I understand the rules of the road apply equally with emergency vehicles as with members of the public. Just a thought.
