SKATEBOARDERS can at times be a minor irritation. But let’s put things in perspective.
Why doesn’t Councillor Moulton concentrate on the issues that are more important, like the huge wastes of public money and wrong priorities under successive Labour and Tory-run councils?
In Councillor Moulton’s eyes, instead of worrying about skateboarders, Southampton residents should overlook the massive £16million of Labour Council and £1.6 million of Tory Government money that has been spent to bail out the arts complex, with the approval of Councillor Moulton and other Tory and Labour councillors.
This is to add to the millions of lottery money that has been poured into the arts complex. And council officers have confirmed to me that the costs could go up even more!
All the while, Southampton’s roads go unfixed, children and families are unprotected, schools have complained of a lack of funding and more care centres have been closed like at Brownhill House, while Southampton General Hospital faces an A&E crisis and delayed discharge of patients.
The arts complex millions are on top of the millions spent on the council’s previous vanity project, the Sea City Museum, which continues to be a monumental failure.
It’s yet another case of Labour or Tory, same old story.
Tory leader Councillor Moulton and Labour’s council leader Councillor Letts need to get their priorities straight.
