IT WAS with horror that I heard that SW Trains had lost its franchise to a consortium from First Group and the Hong Kong metro but not just that but that the new franchises are going to scrap over £200 million worth of new rolling stock currently being built in Germany by Siemens. Is this the right way to run a railway?

What also worries me is that most of the franchises that run our railways are from other countries. To name a few such, Deutsche Bahn, and Gova who run the mess called Southern.

Is it not time for our transport and other utilities such as gas, electric, water and others come back under British control?

It only goes to prove that privatisation is not good for the country as it only helps to line the pockets of the owners.

You only have to look at the scandal of BHS.

Seriously we as a country need to look at every aspect of the way we operate in the UK.
