THE Labour party manifesto says that a Labour government will bring Britain’s railways back into public ownership.
Well if they do, I think they will be on to a winner. Public opinion polls show six in ten of the British people want this, so that means people who currently support a wide range of political parties say ‘yes’ to British publicly owned railways.
What a great opportunity for British travellers to be like train travellers in Germany, France, Holland and Northern Ireland, to travel on an integrated rail network, run for the travellers, with all the ticket money and our tax money to make their journey easier, the network better, our economy better, our environment better.
It will be run by the many for the benefit of the many.
