I WANT to say how impressed I was with the Lib Dem candidate Thomas Gravatt at the Question the Candidates event in Shirley on Wednesday night.
Gravatt was the only candidate to touch on issues like creating a zero-carbon economy, reinstating the nursing bursary that the Tories scrapped, and preventing homelessness.
His party’s policy to invest an extra £30 billion into the NHS was very popular with the audience, as was his commitment to lowering the voting age to sixteen, and guaranteeing the rights of EU nationals living and working here in Southampton to stay here post-Brexit.
At one stage, I even heard the Labour candidate say “Thomas is absolutely right”!
Well done Thomas Gravatt, if your performance here was anything to go by, I’m certain you would do us proud as our MP.
