HAVING had to endure Platform Road’s endless sets of traffic lights for the past four months (with engines running for six lots of two minutes or more at lights) in order to reach the Quays swimming complex due to the ‘temporary’ closure Of Bitterne Leisure centre pool, I cannot understand the need for a tram system when a park and ride would solve so many of the city council’s pollution and transport issues.

I am unable to get a bus directly to the Quays from the eastern side of the city but see plenty of almost empty university buses along this road each day.

Southampton’s permanent residents seem to get a rough deal.

As a further point, when councillor Jacqui Rayment says other council’s residents manage to cope with fortnightly refuse collections maybe they don’t have to fill refuse sacks with plastic that is not allowed in the limited Southampton recycling scheme.

A frustrated Sotonian.
