I FIRMLY believe we should have a referendum on having the right to choose to die with dignity.
Having witnessed members of my family suffer pain and indignity at the end of their lives, watching their suffering and knowing that they wanted the right to decide when enough was enough, I am convinced that this should be put to the general public.
We all know of someone who has suffered at the end. Animals are not left to suffer and are treated with more compassion than humans, surely we deserve the same consideration.
To say that we are not capable of making our own rational decisions, I think, is an injustice and contravenes our basic human rights. Of course we would need rules and regulations put in place, to ensure the situation is not abused, but I am sure that this could be accomplished.
