On June 7, long term Meningitis Trust supporter, Martin Hudson will be holding a special charity concert at the Temple Methodist Church, Upper High Street, Taunton. Somerset.

Martin's support for the Trust began after his family received much-needed help when his eldest daughter contracted meningitis in 2005. She has since gone on to make a remarkable recovery but still suffers from short-term memory loss and fatigue.

With local support, Martin hopes to raise as much money as possible. The money raised will go towards funding support and information materials, as well as services like the 24-hour freephone nurse-led helpline, financial support grants and counselling - a lifeline for everyone whose lives have been turned upside down by meningitis.

The legendary John Kirkpatrick, this country's foremost folk artist and squeezebox player, will be headlining a concert of traditional and contemporary music from the British Isles. The Stanchester Quire, directed by Eddie Upton director of Folk South West, will be ably supporting the event.

The event will begin at 7.30pm. Tickets can be purchased for £10 by contacting Folk South West on 01935 822911 or folksw@folksw.org.uk. Limited tickets will also be available on the door. Refreshments are included.

On the night there will also be a special raffle of two works of art by Somerset artists and a hamper.
