ON April 23 (St George's Day) all of the Eastleigh, Bishopstoke and Fair Oak Scouts, Cubs and Beavers met on Leigh Road rec to celebrate this special day.

Led by the scout band, they paraded up Market Street and on to the church in Desborough Road. I was very proud to see all the flags displayed at the front of the church as the troops went in.

After a lovely service, they marched back to the rec and then went home. It was a wonderful evening with good support from the local people. Well done to you all, you should be proud of yourselves.

I was wondering, that if the girls, boys and leaders could be bothered to turn up to celebrate St George's Day, bearing in mind the children had school the next day and the leaders had work, why wasn't the Daily Echo there to support them? There was nothing in the paper. Shame on you, Echo.

MRS C HUNTER, Eastleigh.

Editor Ian Murray replies: The Daily Echo attended a number of parades but unfortunately could not be present at this particular event.
