DAVID Cameron made a Freudian slip when he referred to the Liberal- Conservative coalition as one party.

There is no doubt that there is a truth behind what he said, which puts him at odds with his traditional Eurosceptic Conservative backbenchers.

The Conservative party now contains two factions – Cameron and Clegg’s pro-EU Liberal- Conservative party and an 81-strong traditional Conservative anti-EU party.

When people voted for the Conservatives in the general election, they could not have imagined that they were actually voting for a Liberal Democrat-led government.
