WOULD those who frequently write to this column extolling the virtues of EU membership be good enough to explain to me the benefits of the EU granting immunity from prosecution to everyone employed in their parliament buildings, even those on short term contracts?
Why is the same immunity given to the EU’s police force (EUROPOL) and their families (Europol already exists in the UK!)?
Our own MP’s and police, as we all know from the media, enjoy no such protection.
It is precisely these checks and balances that make our police force among the best in the world.
Why must we abandon our legal system, undoubtedly the best in the world, which has served us and many other countries for over a thousand years, for the continental system which affords less rights to an innocent citizen than are currently given to terrorists under UK control orders?
CHRIS MARTIN, Netley.
