I HAVE just spent two and a half weeks on Ward E8 at Southampton General Hospital. Every nurse I spoke to was caring, knowledgable and totally professional.
Even though sometimes they were under pressure they worked as a team and responded well to alarms on bedside monitors during the day and night.
Although they had often had little sleep from the night before they were always bright and cheerful. They discussed matters with doctors in a highly professional way. The ward was clean and tidy.
If this is a sample of the NHS then we have a health regime we can be proud of.
How anyone can try to upset it I do not know.
With careful planning we can still have a Health Service that is the envy of the world.
ALASTAIR HARRIS, Southampton.

Little things like that tend to get our NHS a bad reputation.
